Derek is a seasoned physical therapist with extensive experience in outpatient orthopedic and sports rehabilitation. A graduate of St. Thomas’ Hospital School of Physiotherapy in London, Derick built and operated Active Motion Physical Therapy in the Denver area for more than 25 years, providing hands-on care to thousands of patients while developing deep expertise in evidence-based treatment, functional recovery, and long-term wellness.

Throughout his career, Derick has cultivated strong working relationships with physicians across the Denver and Vail areas, collaborating closely on comprehensive care for orthopedic and post-surgical patients. He has been actively involved with Operation Walk Denver, supporting total hip and knee replacement missions for patients in less privileged countries.

Derick particularly enjoys treating senior patients with orthopedic and balance issues, helping them improve mobility, reduce fall risk, and maintain independence. In his spare time, he enjoys the Colorado outdoors, especially road and mountain biking, and spending time with his wife, family, and first grandchild. As he transitions from practice ownership, he remains committed to supporting high-quality physical therapy in the community and ensuring seamless continuity of care for his former patients under the new ownership.
